Happy Birthday, Holly!!

We’ve been celebrating Holliday Grainger’s birthday (on this domain) for 5 years and this year is no different! Happy Birthday to the sweetest and very-social-media-shy actress we know Holliday Grainger. This year should be unique since Holliday was pregnant when we last saw her (back in September), but here’s to the hope we will see her soon joining a new project. We sure miss you!

Holliday Grainger narrates Abigail Dean’s ”Girl A”

Amazing news! A new book audio will be released soon, Girl A, by Abigail Dean has been selected to narrate the full book. She will give voice to Lex Gracie, the girl who escaped her parents’ house of horrors. Both the audio book will be released alongside the hardback and e-book on 21st January. You can hear a small sample of 1:07 here.

She said: “I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to voice Lex’s story. Girl A is an incredible tale of survival and hope, and I know it’s going to be huge next year. I hope people enjoy listening to the audiobook as much as I enjoyed recording it.”

Rights to Girl A have been sold in 27 territories, with Sony Pictures Entertainment adapting for TV, directed by Johan Renck (“Chernobyl”). The book has received advance praise from authors including Paula Hawkins, Jessie Burton, Chris Whitaker, Louise O’Neill and Sophie Hannah.

Its synopsis explains: “When Lex Gracie’s mother dies in prison and leaves Lex and her siblings the family home, she can’t run from her past any longer. Together with her sister, Evie, Lex intends to turn the House of Horrors into a force for good. But first she must come to terms with her six siblings – and with the childhood they shared. Beautifully written and incredibly powerful, Girl A is a story of redemption, of horror, and of love.”

Dean said: “I couldn’t be happier that Holliday will be Girl A’s audiobook narrator. I love her work, from ‘Animals’ to ‘My Cousin Rachel’, and I know that she’ll truly bring Lex and the Gracie family to life.”

OUT WITH THE OLD (2020), IN WITH THE NEW (2021)

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s a small review on what 2020 was like for Holliday’s career.

We couldn’t say 2020 was a bad year, Holly definitely gave us some very good things!

2020 started off with the great news of Strike: Lethal White wrapped filming, and gave us the premiere on BBC, as well as the announcement of a new Robert Galbraith book, which we hope will get it’s opportunity to be release on TV too. The first event of the year had Holly join Portico Prize where she was part of the jury. Next month, February, she and Harry joined the event Poetry Presents: Poetry Gala 2020, where she, and all the guests, read part of poems on stage. Unfortunately she didn’t make the cut for any video of her appearance but be welcome to see photos over here and here. Meantime, on the same month she attended an official event for Tommy Hilfiger in London, see photos here. Still on the Front Row, she joined Erdem, a few photos have been released, see here. On her projects, she joined Belstaff on their new season for The Road Less Travelled while she presented their clothes (photos were available on their stores) and also made an episode where she talks about her career, see here, here and here.

We were forunate enough to get the HD Animals screencaps too which are available here with the release of the dvd in 2020 too. For radio appearances, we know Holliday loves to give voices to projects, she joined Elegies as well as read the full book of Ghosts by Dolly Alderton.

As I said before, Lethal White was definetly one of the major released this year, see all the available posts for trailers, screencaps and official pictures here, here, here, here, here and here.

And to finish off the year, The Capture, was picked up for a 2nd season which we hope that will be at least filmed in 2021, see the official news here. As well as the amazing news Holly and Harry will became parents, see the news here and some photos confirming her pregnancy as well here. In December, Holliday was invited to announce BIFA nominations which we got to see her in video here.

For site news, we finally released our brand new Holly’s closet to bring you all news on Holliday’s outfits with the amazing donations we got!

May 2021 be good!

Newsounds: Holliday Grainger – Star tracks

Found a small interview where we get to know a bit more of Holliday and her favorite music:

Born and raised in Didsbury, south Manchester, Holliday Grainger is one of Britain’s brightest and most versatile screen actors. Her CV spans everything from big budget movies (Great Expectations, Cinderella, My Cousin Rachel) to popular TV dramas ‎such as the BBC’s recent series Strike and The Capture. For her acclaimed role in 2019 film Animals – an adaptation of Emma Jane Unsworth’s novel of the same name – the 32-year-old earned a BIFA (Best Independent Film Award) Best Actress nomination. Here, she speaks to New Sounds about the music that has shaped her life….

The first album I ever bought was….

After watching Titanic, I asked my uncle to buy me Celine Dion… but I think the first album I bought with my own money was Hanson. I was building a really tasteful collection.

The song which reminds me of my first romance…

Elbow has been the soundtrack to my love life. I think ‘Starlings’ (from their 2008 album The Seldom Seen Kid) is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.

The song which always reminds me of home…

Whenever I’ve been away from Manchester too long, I find myself listening to Oasis and The Stone Roses a lot (I never do when I’m home). ‘She’s Electric gets played a lot.

The first gig I ever attended was….

The Flaming Lips at Manchester Academy with my mum. I still have a visual memory of it. Lots of inflatable balls, glitter and furry animal costumes.

The song which always gets me up on the dancefloor….

Anything. I’ll be up there already.

The one album I would want if I was stranded on a desert island….

Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill. I reckon it’d be a great antidote to loneliness.
