Newsounds: Holliday Grainger – Star tracks

Found a small interview where we get to know a bit more of Holliday and her favorite music:

Born and raised in Didsbury, south Manchester, Holliday Grainger is one of Britain’s brightest and most versatile screen actors. Her CV spans everything from big budget movies (Great Expectations, Cinderella, My Cousin Rachel) to popular TV dramas ‎such as the BBC’s recent series Strike and The Capture. For her acclaimed role in 2019 film Animals – an adaptation of Emma Jane Unsworth’s novel of the same name – the 32-year-old earned a BIFA (Best Independent Film Award) Best Actress nomination. Here, she speaks to New Sounds about the music that has shaped her life….

The first album I ever bought was….

After watching Titanic, I asked my uncle to buy me Celine Dion… but I think the first album I bought with my own money was Hanson. I was building a really tasteful collection.

The song which reminds me of my first romance…

Elbow has been the soundtrack to my love life. I think ‘Starlings’ (from their 2008 album The Seldom Seen Kid) is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.

The song which always reminds me of home…

Whenever I’ve been away from Manchester too long, I find myself listening to Oasis and The Stone Roses a lot (I never do when I’m home). ‘She’s Electric gets played a lot.

The first gig I ever attended was….

The Flaming Lips at Manchester Academy with my mum. I still have a visual memory of it. Lots of inflatable balls, glitter and furry animal costumes.

The song which always gets me up on the dancefloor….

Anything. I’ll be up there already.

The one album I would want if I was stranded on a desert island….

Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill. I reckon it’d be a great antidote to loneliness.

The Telegraph: ‘I’ve had my fair share of questionable romances’

The actor, 32, who starred in Strike and The Capture, lives in Devon with her boyfriend, fellow actor Harry Treadaway, 36

When I’m filming, the day begins early – usually at 5.30am – but if I’m not working, I get up at 9am. That’s the difficult thing about being an actor; your routine can shift very quickly. I make coffee, toast with Marmite and avocado, and a smoothie. Then I’ll put together a to-do list. Some weeks I feel like an incredibly organised businesswoman, others I’m chasing my tail.

My most recent project was reading the audiobook of journalist Dolly Alderton’s debut novel, Ghosts, about modern dating. I’ve never been ‘ghosted’, but in my earlier 20s, I had my fair share of questionable romances. I found the book incredibly amusing, even on the third reading.

Since lockdown, life has changed so much. [Holliday is pregnant with her first child.] A lot of my jobs have been moved to 2021, so I spent most of it in Devon, where we rent a place. Having extra time together has been really lovely; the best thing was being forced to be static. I developed an obsession with the vintage furniture website Vinterior. I also got into cooking more. We ordered a veg box with lots of lovely seasonal produce, and I mastered butternut squash and chickpea curry.

Metro.co.uk: Holliday Grainger on whether she thinks Cormoran and Robin should get together in new series of Strike

For now, Holly has given two small interviews on the return of The Strike on BBC ONE. And seems like she is a bit conflicted if she’s pro or against a Cormoran & Robin (loveydovey) relationship! What’s your opinion? Let us know via Twitter here.

Holliday Grainger isn’t as on board with the idea of Strike and Robin getting together as fans of the hit BBC One series are. Robin Ellacott, played by Holliday, and her boss Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) have had a simmering tension between them for the last three seasons of the Strike crime drama, based on JK Rowling’s novels penned under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith. In the new story Strike: Lethal White – which will air later this month – those feelings haven’t gone away despite Robin’s marriage to Matthew (Kerr Logan). While this may be good news for Robin/Strike shippers who love a bit of angst, the actress thinks it would be better if they didn’t act on their feelings.

Radio Times: When is Strike: Lethal White’s release date?

We finally have a date for Lethal White release!! The 4th book finally hits our TV with the first two episodes airing on August 30th and 31. The following 2 episodes will air on the following weekend September 6th and 7th, for a total of 4 episodes.

Tom Burke (and Holliday Grainger!!) will return as the private detective Cormoran Strike in a new BBC One four-part thriller.

Private investigator Cormoran Strike is returning to television sooner than you might think, as the BBC recently revealed a premiere date for the next series.

Based on the bestselling novels by JK Rowling, published under her alternate pseudonym Robert Galbraith, the series stars Tom Burke in the title role.

Opposite him, Holliday Grainger plays professional partner Robin Ellacott, who joins him on complex criminal cases that the police have been unable to crack. We’ll also learn more about Robin and Cormoran’s will-they-won’t-they relationship, which Burke has described as the “heart of the show”.

The fourth series, subtitled Lethal White, will continue on from past outings The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil, when it premieres later this month.

Here’s everything you need to know about Strike: Lethal White.
