The Telegraph: ‘I’ve had my fair share of questionable romances’

The actor, 32, who starred in Strike and The Capture, lives in Devon with her boyfriend, fellow actor Harry Treadaway, 36

When I’m filming, the day begins early – usually at 5.30am – but if I’m not working, I get up at 9am. That’s the difficult thing about being an actor; your routine can shift very quickly. I make coffee, toast with Marmite and avocado, and a smoothie. Then I’ll put together a to-do list. Some weeks I feel like an incredibly organised businesswoman, others I’m chasing my tail.

My most recent project was reading the audiobook of journalist Dolly Alderton’s debut novel, Ghosts, about modern dating. I’ve never been ‘ghosted’, but in my earlier 20s, I had my fair share of questionable romances. I found the book incredibly amusing, even on the third reading.

Since lockdown, life has changed so much. [Holliday is pregnant with her first child.] A lot of my jobs have been moved to 2021, so I spent most of it in Devon, where we rent a place. Having extra time together has been really lovely; the best thing was being forced to be static. I developed an obsession with the vintage furniture website Vinterior. I also got into cooking more. We ordered a veg box with lots of lovely seasonal produce, and I mastered butternut squash and chickpea curry.

I don’t have a set bedtime, anything from 10pm to 1am. I love reading in bed and recently finished Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. It’s partly set in London and it’s the only thing that has made me miss  living in the capital.

My favourite:

…lockdown purchase

A Red paddle board – getting out on the ocean has been a joy . It’s good exercise and I love to admire the beauty of the coast. From £899, redpaddleco.com

… item of clothing

The Aran jumpers knitted by my nan. They’re intricate and beautiful – it’s a skill I wish I had.

… hair product

Moroccanoil Colour Depositing Mask – I’ve been doing a lot of acting jobs that have wanted me blonde. This year, I’m determined to get back to my natural hair colour. £28.85, lookfantastic.com

… handy gadget

I have a clip-on booklight on my bedside table. I don’t like strong lighting, so I love that it emits a warm, white light.

… audiobook

I tend to listen to audiobooks when I’m cooking or going for a walk to the coast. I’m loving Mythos, narrated by Stephen Fry – I find his voice so therapeutic. £31.99, audible.co.uk

… signature scent

Le Labo Thé Noir 29. I’ve worn this for a couple of years, it smells like black tea – quite musky, but sweet. £130 for 50ml edp, libertylondon.com
